How to cancel Spotify

Cancel Spotify Premium from your account page. Music access stays active until the end of the billing period.

Starts at: spotify.com/account

Step-by-step

  1. Open your Spotify account page

Sign in at spotify.com on a browser. Click your profile name in the top-right and choose Account.

  2. Go to Your Plan

Click Manage your plan (or Subscription, depending on region).

  3. Tap Cancel Premium

Scroll down and click Change Plan, then Cancel Premium. Confirm when prompted.

  4. Confirm the downgrade

Spotify confirms via email. You keep Premium until the end of the current cycle, then automatically drop to the free, ad-supported tier.

What happens after you cancel

  • Your playlists, library, and follows stay intact on the free tier.
  • No refund for the current period.
  • If you cancel a Family or Duo plan, all linked members lose Premium on the same date.

Don't get re-charged by mistake

Log Spotify's end date in SubRemind so it stops counting toward your monthly total — and so you get a warning if it ever quietly re-bills.

Frequently asked

What happens to my downloads if I cancel Spotify Premium?

Offline downloads stop working at the end of your billing period. The tracks remain in your library but you'll need to be online (and accept ads) to play them on the free tier.

Can I pause Spotify Premium instead of cancelling?

Spotify doesn't offer an official pause. The closest equivalent is cancelling — you drop to the free tier — and resubscribing later when you want Premium again.
