How SubRemind works
A complete walkthrough — from signing up to reading your 12-month projection — in seven steps. Total setup time is about five minutes for ten subscriptions.
Create a free account
Go to /signup, enter your email and a password of at least 10 characters, and confirm. No credit card. No personal questions. You're signed in within a few seconds.
Pick your base currency
Open Settings and choose the currency you want all stats and charts to be shown in — for example USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, or CHF. Subscriptions can still be entered in any currency; SubRemind converts them with live exchange rates.
Add your first subscription
Click 'Add subscription' on the dashboard. Pick a known service (Netflix, Spotify, ChatGPT Plus, etc.) or 'Custom' to enter any name and domain. Set the price, currency, billing cycle (monthly, quarterly, or yearly), and the next billing date.
Mark free trials, if any
If the subscription is currently in a free-trial period, tick 'Free trial' and set the trial end date. SubRemind treats the same date as both the trial end and the first paid charge, and excludes the trial from your monthly total.
Read your dashboard
The top-row stats show this month's spend, this year's spend, and how many charges are due in the next seven days — all in your base currency. The chart switcher under the stats lets you flip between Spending (3 past + 9 future months), Categories (donut), Upcoming (next 30 days grouped), and Payment methods.
Tag with payment method (optional)
When adding or editing a subscription, you can tag it with a payment brand (Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Twint, Revolut, …) plus a free-text label like 'Main account'. The Payment methods chart then breaks your spend down by card or wallet.
Use categories and search
Each subscription is tagged with a category (entertainment, productivity, AI, music, etc.) and you can create custom categories with your own colours. The category pill bar filters the grid, the search bar narrows by name, and the sort dropdown re-orders by next billing or price.
A few helpful details
- Yearly subs are averaged across 12 months for stats, but appear in full in their actual renewal month on the projection chart.
- Quarterly subs are divided by 3 for the monthly average and shown in full every third month on the chart.
- Currency conversion uses rates cached for 1 hour from open.er-api.com. If a rate is missing, SubRemind falls back to the native amount rather than guessing.
- Payment-method tags are optional and never required to save a subscription.
