Common questions

What is SubRemind?

SubRemind is a free web app for tracking recurring subscriptions. You enter each subscription manually, and SubRemind shows your monthly and yearly spend converted into a single base currency, projects the next 12 months of charges, and warns you before any free trial converts to a paid plan.

Is SubRemind free to use?

Yes — SubRemind is free for personal use, with no credit card required to sign up. There are no ads, no upsell prompts, and no data selling. If paid features are added in the future they'll be clearly labelled before you opt in.

Does SubRemind connect to my bank account?

No. SubRemind never reads your bank balance, card details, or transaction data. You enter each subscription manually. This means there is no banking integration to authorise and your financial accounts stay private.

How does SubRemind handle multiple currencies?

Pick one base currency in Settings (for example USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, or CHF). SubRemind fetches live exchange rates from open.er-api.com (cached for one hour) and converts every subscription into that base currency. Each subscription card still shows the native price so nothing is hidden.

What subscription cycles are supported?

Monthly, quarterly, and yearly. Yearly subscriptions are averaged across 12 months for fair monthly comparisons in stats; the 12-month projection chart shows the full charge in the actual renewal month so you can plan for spikes.

How are free trials tracked?

When you add a subscription you can mark it as a free trial and set the trial end date. While the trial is active, SubRemind shows an amber 'Trial · ends in Nd' badge in place of the cycle pill and excludes the trial from your monthly total. Once the date passes, the subscription joins your normal recurring spend.

Will SubRemind charge me when a free trial ends?

No. SubRemind itself never charges you — the merchant of the underlying subscription does. SubRemind is purely a tracker, so there is no payment relationship between you and SubRemind.

Does SubRemind send email or push reminders?

Not yet — email reminders are on the roadmap and are the most-requested feature. Right now, the dashboard shows an amber countdown badge ('Trial · ends in Nd') for any subscription with an approaching trial end, so you always see what's due when you log in. Email notifications before trial conversions and renewals will be added in a future update.

How is my data protected?

Each row in the database is protected by Postgres row-level security: only your authenticated session can read or modify your subscriptions. Data is transmitted over HTTPS, passwords are hashed by Supabase Auth, and SubRemind does not run third-party analytics or tracking scripts. Read the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

Can I export or delete my data?

You can delete any individual subscription from the dashboard at any time. CSV export is not yet available — it is planned for a future release. To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@subremind.me and we will remove it.

Which services are supported?

SubRemind ships with logos and metadata for around 150 popular services including Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, YouTube Premium, Apple TV+, ChatGPT Plus, Notion, GitHub, AWS, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365, Dropbox, and many more. You can also add a custom service with any name, domain, currency, and price.

Does SubRemind work on mobile?

Yes — SubRemind is a responsive web app and works in any modern mobile browser. There is no native iOS or Android app yet, but you can install it like one: on iOS, open Safari, tap the Share icon, then 'Add to Home Screen'; on Android, open Chrome, tap the menu (⋮), then 'Add to Home Screen'. This gives you a full-screen icon that opens straight to the dashboard.

Who built SubRemind?

SubRemind is an independent project, not backed by an ad network or analytics company. Read more on the About page or contact us at hello@subremind.me.
