How to cancel Claude
Cancel Claude Pro from your Anthropic account settings. Access stays active until the end of your billing period.

Step-by-step
Open Claude Settings
Sign in at claude.ai. Click your initials in the bottom-left, then Settings.
Go to Plans & Billing
Open the Plans & Billing section.
Tap Manage subscription, then Cancel
Anthropic shows the renewal date and a Cancel option. Confirm — you keep Pro until the period ends.
What happens after you cancel
- Your conversation history and projects remain on the free tier.
- Free-tier usage limits are stricter and Sonnet/Opus may be unavailable during high-load windows.
- API usage is billed separately from Claude Pro — cancelling Pro does not affect API spend.

Does cancelling Claude Pro affect my Anthropic API usage?
No. Claude Pro (consumer) and the Anthropic API are separate billing relationships. Cancelling Pro just reverts your claude.ai access to the free tier. API keys keep working as long as the API account has credit.
Will my Claude projects stay after cancelling?
Yes. Projects and conversation history persist on the free tier. You'll just be capped on usage and might not have access to the larger model during peak periods.
